These books include historical information about the persons, places and things of the Bible as well the Bible itself.

Hebrew Thought

As the Hebrews view of the world was very different from our modern perspective, these books will provide details into how the Hebrews thought and perceived the world around them as well as their view of God and other subjects of the Bible.

Transmission

The transmission of the Bible from its original writings to its modern translations is a long and involved process. Understanding this process will provide a solid background to understanding the history of the Biblical text.

Textual Criticism

There are many different Hebrew texts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, Masoretic text and Samaritan text as well as ancient translations such as the Greek Septuagint, Aramaic Targum and Latin Vulgate. This is the study of these various Hebrew traditions and translations in order to attempt a reconstruction of the original writings.
