Biblical Hebrew Dictionary

This dictionary includes the 1000 most common words in the Hebrew Bible. The Hebrew words in this dictionary do not contain any of the prefixes or suffixes as found in the Hebrew text. For example, the noun השמים (hashamayim), includes the prefix ה (ha) meaning "the." When this is removed we have שמים (shamayim) meaning "heavens" or "sky." As another example, the verb ויאמרו, (vay'yom'ru) meaning "and they said," has two prefixes (ו and י), and one suffix (ו). When these are removed, we have the base verb אמר (amar) meaning, "say".
